As summer comes to an end, a few of our authors shared what they have been reading this season. Read below for their answers…
Alison Gervais: Edits for my current work in progress!
Annie Sullivan: I just finished Legendary by Stephanie Garber, and I loved it! It kept me guessing until the very end. And that’s what I love about Stephanie’s writing—even when I thought I knew her tricks, she still made me sit in suspense trying to figure out what was going to happen next.
CJ Lyons: A lot of nonfiction (research for upcoming books), and for fiction I’ve been rotating between YA, SF, and magical realism, as well as re-reading some of my favs like Prince of Tides, Code Name: Verity, Sharp Objects.
Laurie Boyle Crompton: Right now, in my beach bag I have an advanced reader copy of Steward Lewis’ LOOK CLOSER, as well as THE CREATIVE LICENSE by Danny Gregory. One is deliciously creepy and the other incredibly inspiring! You can probably guess which is which, but I highly recommend them both!
Lorie Langdon: Since I’m writing a fantasy novel, I’ve been into reading fantasy as well. I just finished Shadowcaster and Stormcaster by Cinda Williams Chima, and I’m currently reading The Shadow Queen by C. J. Readwine.
McCall Hoyle: Jenny Han is one of my all-time favorite young adult, contemporary authors, and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is one of my all-time favorite books. It’s being made into a Netflix movie that will release in August. So of course, I’m re-reading the entire series before the movie releases.
Stephanie Morrill: I kicked off the summer with The Alice Network by Kate Quinn, which I really enjoyed. With my older two kids, I read Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, The War That Saved My Life, and Farewell to Manzanar. Currently I’m reading Love Does by Bob Goff.
