The Synopsis of Destined for Doon

Destined

In this sequel to Doon, Mackenna Reid realizes she made a horrible mistake in choosing to follow her dreams of Broadway instead of staying in the enchanted land of Doon. To make everything worse, she’s received her Calling—proof she and Duncan are each other’s one true love—and it’s pure torment, especially when visions of the very alluring Scottish prince appear right before she goes on stage. So when Duncan tells her an ancient curse threatens to overtake Doon and the new queen and Kenna’s best friend, Veronica, needs her to return, Kenna doesn’t have to think twice. With darkness closing in on all sides, Kenna and Vee must battle a world of nightmares in order to protect the kingdom. But it will take the ultimate test of courage for Kenna to salvage her happily ever after.

Lorie Ann Grover Street Team

Hey, Blink Readers!

I’m making an Open Call for the Lorie Ann Grover Street Team! But first let me fill you in on my upcoming release…

Back in 2004, my daughter’s best friend, Sarah, was walking to her bus stop. In the crosswalk, under a streetlight, she was struck by a vehicle and thrown through the air. Sarah needed emergency brain surgery.

My daughter and I sped to the hospital in Seattle and sat in witness to the family living through the difficult trial. Permissions were given for the operation, hours ticked by as surgery was performed, fears rose, discussions sparked and fizzled. And then there was post-surgery recovery, Sarah’s altered appearance, and the unknown long term damage. The rippling effect from one teen’s pain was felt throughout the entire community.

Ten years later, I release my novel Hit—a work of fiction inspired by Sarah’s accident. With the family’s permission, the names have remained largely unchanged as I wove a story in, around, and through their experience. It is true that the real story had just as much drama, but my friends had far more grace than my characters. However, I believe my characters make for a better novel. 🙂

In reading Hit, I hope you fly through two days of Sarah’s experience. May you find hope in a girl finding her truth and making difficult choices to better herself in the midst of disaster. I hope you find the sweet red seeds in your own difficulties. I believe they are always there. You just need to look for them.

Alright, how about a Hit synopsis?

After receiving a scholarship to Mills College, Sarah’s future is clear … until she walks into a poetry class led by Mr. Haddings, a student teacher from the nearby University of Washington. Suddenly, life at UW seems very appealing, and Sarah begins to use her poetry journal to subtly declare her feelings for Mr. Haddings. Convinced he is flirting back, she sets off for school in the rain with a poem in her back pocket—saying how she really feels.

Mr. Haddings has been noticing Sarah’s attention, and he decides to end all speculation that morning. But everything changes when he feels a thud on his front bumper and finds Sarah in the street with blood pooling beneath her.
